Botox® and Fillers? What’s the difference?

Botox® and Fillers? What’s the difference?

Botox® and Fillers are often used simultaneously. They both enhance aging skin but are very different products with different indications and results.

The Botox® bottom line….

Botox® injections are a fast, efficient, non-surgical way to treat fine lines and wrinkles with minimal risk and no downtime. Most common areas to be treated are the forehead lines, crow’s feet and the “11’s” between the brows. These areas are where most of our facial expressions happen.

After injection, results will begin in about 3 to 4 days and full results can be seen in 2 weeks. A Botox® treatment typically lasts between 3 to 4 months. Slowly, our body metabolizes the Botox® and the areas treated begin to regain movement, and therefore the lines start to become present again. If you are considering Botox® our Nurse Practitioner, Susan Busch will be happy to give you a complimentary consultation.

Did you know Botox® can treat excessive underarm sweating, also called Hyperhidrosis?

Botox® is also FDA approved for the treatment of hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. The results are highly effective and can last between 7-12 months. Multiple tiny injections of Botox® are placed in the areas of sweating, the procedure takes 30- 45 minutes. This treatment is to decrease excessive sweating in the area treated and will not interfere with other areas that sweating occurs.

What’s the scoop on Fillers?

Dermal Fillers work by injecting a gel-like substance under the skin to restore volume and fullness, smooth lines, soften creases and enhance lips. More than 1 million men and women annually have chosen this popular facial rejuvenation treatment, which can be a cost effective way to look younger without surgery. Results are often immediate or are visible within 24 hours of treatment. There are many different formula of fillers, but here at Medical Aesthetics on Tremont we use Juvederm® Products with Hyaluronic Acid, an ingredient naturally found in our body.

Juvederm® products can last from 6 months up to 2 year, depending on the area treated and Juvederm® formula used.

Can you get both Botox®and Fillers?

Yes! Botox® and Fillers often address different aging concerns and done together can have transformative results.
